HENRY VII In the wars of roses defeated the last Yorkist, Richard III and became king Henry VII in 1485. Before he arrived there is the obscure age and he did of the England a modern state. 3 HENRY VIII Was the second son of Henry VII.

He was intersting in the defending the sacraments and for this reason the had the title of “Defender of the fight” by the Pope in 1251 He was married with Caterina D’Aragona and she gave him the daughter Mary I. He asked the divorce to marry Anna Bolena, and broke with Rome when the Pope refused to give him the divorce. He declared him “Supreme Head of the Church of England” with the act of Supremacy in 1534. The dissolution of the monasteries brought money to the crown and king spent them for the inflaction and the war. Ireland remain catholic country. He had 6 wifes. HENRY VIII

6 Was the daughter of Henry VIII and Anna Bolena and she succeded her sister Mary in 1558 and became the MOST POPULAR RULER . Queen of a divided nation : two parts = anti-Catholic and anti-Spanish. She was 25 years old and had a strong personality, was intelligent and had a passionate character. Accepted protestant and catholic religion. She received an excellent education and spoke : french, german, spanish, english, latin and italian. Political weapon : was unmarried but lover her pepole EXPLORATION OVERSEAS : 1)search gold, silver and other around the world 2) sent his people to colonize other territory 3) use pirate in fact they told othr pirates the secret of the ship Ispirated literature, music,drama, poetry and during this period we have Shakespeare. Encouraged the capitan Francis Drack and Walter Releigh in their piracy against Spain ships and took profits Spain was her main trade rival. Defeated the SPANISH ARMADA in 1558. 7 campanies to colonize in the name of trade. ELIZABETH I
