14 5 MAJOR WARNINGS All were written to believers
Admonish believers to endure and receive the promises of an overcomer Represent a very real possibility of loss of rewards, privileges or crowns at the Judgment Seat of Christ

15 [Heb 2:1-4 KJV] 1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let [them] slip. 2 For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward; 3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard [him]; 4 God also bearing [them] witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

16 THE DANGER OF DRIFTING SLIP: παραρρέω pararreō – boat untied from mooring – drift The “If” in verse 2 is a Greek first-class condition The issue at hand is the earning of rewards The Author includes himself; we, us The Author and Readers are 2nd generation So great a salvation refers to the future aspect NEGLECT: ἀμελέω ameleō – apathetic, indifferent Its not how you start but how you finish! Saul, Solomon This is a rhetorical question

17 THE DANGER OF DRIFTING The point of the warning is the revelation that comes through the Son carries far more solemn obligations for the recipients the revelation mediated through angels or men.

18 JESUS IS SUPERIOR TO MOSES
God honors Moses more that any other man Deu 34:10 Moses appears over 800 times in the Bible Moses honors God more than any other man John 9:28 Moses was faithful, never withheld God’s Word Faithful in erecting the Tabernacle Ex 40:16 Made some serious mistakes Ex 2-4 Moses was a faithful servant Num 12:7 Jesus validates Moses as author Torah Jn 5:46

19 MOSES CHRIST Man of God Descendant of Abraham Prophet of God’s Truth
Priest King in Jeshunun Delivered Israel from Egypt Built earthly Tabernacle Led through wilderness CHRIST God Himself Sinless Embodiment of God Hight Priest King of Kings From Eternity Place on High Leads to Glory

20 [Heb 3:1-19 NKJV] 1 Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus, 2 who was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also [was faithful] in all His house. 3 For this One has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as He who built the house has more honor than the house. 4 For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things [is] God. 5 And Moses indeed [was] faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those

21 [Heb 3:1-19 NKJV] things which would be spoken [afterward], 6 but Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end. 7 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: "Today, if you will hear His voice, 8 Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, In the day of trial in the wilderness, 9 Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, And saw My works forty years. 10 Therefore I was angry with that generation, And said, 'They always go astray in [their] heart, And they have not

22 [Heb 3:1-19 NKJV] known My ways
[Heb 3:1-19 NKJV] known My ways.' 11 So I swore in My wrath, 'They shall not enter My rest.' " 12 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; 13 but exhort one another daily, while it is called "Today," lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, 15 while it is said: "Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion." 16 For who, having

23 [Heb 3:1-19 NKJV] heard, rebelled
[Heb 3:1-19 NKJV] heard, rebelled? Indeed, [was it] not all who came out of Egypt, [led] by Moses? 17 Now with whom was He angry forty years? [Was it] not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? 19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

24 SUMMARY They were a redeemed people Saved by the blood of the lamb
Delivered out of Egypt Crossed the Red Sea Saw Pharaoh’s army destroyed Fed on quail and manna from heaven Denied their inheritance due to unbelief

25 JESUS IS SUPERIOR TO MOSES
