Objectives By the end of this session you will be able to:
Recognize the effect of shutter speed on camera shake and motion blur Set shutter-priority on your camera and adjust shutter speed Pan your camera to capture motion Use Image Stabilization and camera supports to reduce camera shake

Shutter Speed How long the sensor is exposed to light
Anything from half a minute to 1/4000th of a second

Finding it on your camera
Speed should be displayed on screen (on ‘P’) Set the camera to ‘S’ or ‘T’ on command dial Use the 4-way selector and /or scroll wheel to adjust the shutter speed Camera will automatically adjust so that EV will remain the same Camera may remember setting after it’s turned off (this is settable too)
