TOPICS: 1. MAKING THE SPREAD MORE MULTIPLE 2. ADVANCES IN THE READ GAME 3. SHORT THROWS = EXPLOSIVE PLAYS (Screens)
3
Why multiple packages and Formations?
MAKE THE DEFENSE LINE UP! (DC’s, create confusion, get a numerical advantage) 2. Best personnel + best formation on the field to run the desired play! (balance, extra TE/Back for run game or PA Pass) 3. GET MORE PEOPLE INVOLVED. (used 4 backs, 7 receivers, 1 TE - increased focus and communication in practice, more fun!!!)

Quad/Trey Packages w/ Color Formations:
PROBLEM ??? In Normal Spread and Trips formations our “Y” receiver is always on the right and our “X” receiver is always on the left. SOLUTION: Using our color formations with our quad packages allows us to move the “Y” receiver to all spots across the field.

Formation Tags Allows us to move receivers around (i.e. Flip)
2. Allows us to manipulate the defense (i.e. stack, bunch, flex, wing, Rog/Lou) 3. Helps us get our playmakers in space. (i.e. stack, flip, Rog/Lou)
12
“Flip” “Flip” is a formation tag that tells the outside receivers in the formation to flip with the inside receivers. Trips Rt Formation X O O X O O Y A Z QB T Trips Rt “Flip” X O O X O O Y A Z QB T
13
Stack, Bunch, Flex, Rog/Lou
“STACK” – Receivers will stack behind each other “BUNCH” – Receivers will bunch to the formation. We use a 2 yard split. “FLEX” – Tight end will stand up and line up 4-6 yards from the tackle. “ROG/LOU” – Roger and Lou designate where the RB will line up in empty formations. Roger to the right and Lou to the left. Split from tackle is based on play called.

2. ADVANCES IN THE READ GAME:
WHY? OPTION PRINCIPALS make the defense play assignment football. (be disciplined) DIVIDES THE DEFENSE. (half is playing stretch play/half plays the run play called) 3. MORE DIFICULT FOR DE TO PLAY BOTH THE RB & QB. (easier read for the Quarterback)
16
“Dash/Flow” We can add the term “Dash” or “Flow” to almost any of our run blocking schemes. “DASH” – Backs will run Stretch path SAME SIDE as the call and QB will read defensive end to the call. (i.e. “Power Rt Dash” – RB runs stretch right and QB reads the Right DE/C gap player) “FLOW” – Backs will run Stretch path OPPOSITE the call. QB will read defensive end opposite. (i.e. “Zone Right Flow” – RB runs stretch left and QB reads the Left DE/C gap player)
