Increase data visibility
Broaden data access
Simplify data use
Exchanges information in real time
Allows discovery of all data
Is used for a wide range of environmental data – from under the oceans, across land surface to space weather
Has proven cross-border compatibility and reliability (it is built on intl. standards)

3. WMO Information System The single coordinated global infrastructure responsible for the telecommunications and data management functions
Three types of services:
Routine collection and dissemination service for time-critical and operation-critical data and products
Timely delivery service for data and products “Push” combination of dedicated telecommunication means and of public data-communication networks, especially the internet
Discovery Access and Retrieval “Pull” 1-min, 10-min, etc.

4. WIGOS Information Resource (Access to Observational Metadata)
