Plug-In Hybrid Cars By: Justin Avery, Joseph James

2 Basic Information Plug-in hybrid cars are vehicles with an added battery. Electricity is the main source of fuel. The vehicle can be plugged in to a 120-volt outlet and charged. Depending of battery size, the fuel range can be up to 60 miles per charge.

3 Actual cost of operation
You can upgrade your battery size for only few thousand more than average cars. Estimated 30 miles of electric driving will cost roughly 81 cents compared to regular hybrid cars at $1.25/gal. Plug in hybrid’s total lifetime cost of ownership including fuel and services will be lower than a gas car.

4 Advantages Performance- the vehicle can sustain top speed for 2 min. on low battery. Emissions- plug-in hybrids emit at least 67% lower greenhouse gases than regular vehicles. Design- same features, and amount of safety as normal cars. Fuel Economy- double that of gas cars and regular hybrid cars with the same size and capacity.

5 Competition Gas- increasing gas prices, worse emissions, and high maintenance costs. Fuel Cells- problems with mass producing due to cost and instability of the hydrogen cells, safety concerns which includes weather conditions, and not as much power.
