Vocabulario R2-a Hay – There is / there are la familia – the family la mamá – the mom el papá – the dad el hermano – the brother la hermana – the sister por eso – for that reason también – also un día – one day Él/ella quiere – he/she wants Es… – is… (WHO or WHAT you are) inteligente – intelligent grande – big pequeño/a – small famoso/a – famous raro/a – strange Está… – is… (HOW or WHERE you are) enojado/a – angry triste – sad bien – well/good mal – poor/bad regular – so-so GRAMÁTICA (GRAMMAR) – los artículos Nouns in Spanish are either masculine or feminine, and articles must match their nouns when plural. MASCULINE: el – the los – the (plural) un – a/an unos – some (a/an plural) FEMININE: la – the las – the (plural) una – a/an unas – some (a/an plural) Singular Plural el chico un chico los chicos unos chicos la chica una chica las chicas unas chicas HINT: 80% of the time: If a word ends in –A, –IÓN, or –DAD (ex. La decisión, la verdad) it is usually FEMININE. If it ends in –O, -E, or a consonant (R, Z, etc.) it is usually MASCULINE. There are many exceptions to the rule! Example: el día, el problema, la mano, el mapa, etc.
