To be an elite level player at a college or professional sport, you need a degree of exceptional athleticism. And the best medically, scientifically and psychologically recommended way to develop such all around athleticism is ample free play and multiple sport participation as a child.

What is the NCAA Clearinghouse?
Used to determine initial eligibility All final semester grades are included from all high schools attended All student athletes in Division I & Division II are REQUIRED to get cleared by the clearinghouse to receive athletic scholarships & become eligible starting their freshman year. SAT scores will be measured on a sliding scale with your Critical Reading & Math sections. ACT scores will be measured on a sliding scale with your Math, English, Reading, and Science sections.

There are new requirements for college-bound student athletes enrolling full-time at an NCAA Division I college or university on or after August 1, 2016. Minimum core-course GPA of required for competition; Ten core courses required before beginning of senior year for competition; and Slight changes in GPA/test score index (Sliding Scale).

Initial Eligibility Students will need to meet the following requirements to receive athletics aid, practice and compete their first year 16 core courses in the following areas: • 4 years English; • 3 years math at Integrated Math I level or higher; • 2 years natural or physical science (one lab) • 1 year additional English, math or natural/physical science; • 2 years social science; and • 4 years additional from areas above or foreign language, philosophy, or comparative religion. Minimum required GPA: • Minimum GPA of required for competition in those 16 core courses Graduate from high school on-time

Core-course Progression
• Must complete 10 core courses before seventh semester of high school (e.g., senior year) • Of the 10 core courses completed, 7 must be in the area of English, math, or science. • These 10 core courses become “locked in” for the purpose of core course GPA calculation. • A repeat of one of the “locked in” courses will not be used if taken after the seventh semester begins

University of California A-G Requirements
History/social science (“a”) – Two years Req, including one year of world history, cultures and historical geography and one year of U.S. history, or one-half year of U.S. history and one-half year of American government or civics. English (“b”) – Four years of college preparatory English that integrates reading of classic and modern literature Mathematics (“c”) –Three years of college-preparatory math, including or integrating the topics covered in elementary and advanced algebra and two- and three-dimensional geometry. Laboratory science (“d”) – Two years of laboratory science providing fundamental knowledge in at least two of the three disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics. Language other than English (“e”) – Two years of the same language other than English or equivalent to the second level of high school instruction. Visual and performing arts (“f”) – One year chosen from dance, music, theater or the visual arts. College-preparatory elective (“g”) – One year chosen from the “a-f” courses beyond those used to satisfy the requirements above

College Applications August 1st November 30th 2016 UC Application Window Open for the school year starting in fall 2017 semester. October 1st November 30th 2016 CSU Application Window Open for the school year starting in fall 2017 semester. Some Schools have late admissions policies and some have rolling admissions policies where you could apply into the spring. Many colleges utilize the common application to apply for school. Letters of Recommendation Come up with your list of 5-7 college you would want to attend. Apply to these schools including 1-2 safe schools you know you will get into

FAFSA Seniors can begin applying for financial aid now for the upcoming year. Applications opened October 3rd 2016. You can start filling out the FAFSA simply by creating an FSA ID Free to apply at FAFSA.gov Could be used for 2 & 4 year institutions. Opportunity to get college paid for. All athletic programs will ask you to complete FAFSA before awarding a scholarship. Some universities will stack athletic & academic scholarships on top of financial aid.

Community College Great opportunity to improve your academic standing.
Saves money. Flexible to meet your schedule. Improve your athletic ability. Some of the same schools recruit community colleges as much as high schools. Second chance academically and athletically. A chance to play early.

What Can You Do to Develop your Championship Mentality in the Classroom?
Participate in your classes! Complete all assignments on time! Respect your instructors! Participate in discussions in class! Be a leader in class! Sit in the front of class unless you are instructed not to! Help others! Research! PASS YOUR CLASSES THE 1st TIME! Credit Recovery is NOT THE ANSWER if you are a student athlete!
