2 Context Our Service recognises the multi-cultural, multi-faith nature of the United Kingdom Our staff recognise the important role our Service plays in promoting the values of modern Britain The government requires all educational organisations to promote British Values with their learners

3 Promoting Equality and Diversity Promoting British Values
British Values is part of BAES’s work in promoting equality and diversity in all what we do . Promoting Equality and Diversity Promoting British Values Values are principles or standards of behaviour; one’s judgement of what is important in life.

4 Democracy Rule of Law As defined in Prevent Duty British Values
Individual Liberty Respect & Tolerance As defined in Prevent Duty

5 British Values – Democracy
Democracy means “Rule by the people” We vote for Members of Parliament ( MPs)and Councillors to represent us We can make our voice heard and can make a change through voting

6 British Values – Democracy - BAES
We choose our class representative at Learner Forums We say what we think in the Learner Satisfaction Survey and our views are listened to and improve practice We debate and discuss relevant issues and topics openly and safely

7 British Values – Rule of Law
No one is above the law Laws protect everyone Laws are fair and clear Innocent until proved guilty

We agree our ground rules and respect them We know our rights and responsibilities as learners We understand and follow the policies provided in the Learner Handbook

9 British Values – Mutual Respect and Tolerance
We treat everyone fairly We treat with dignity and respect: All backgrounds and cultures All ages All genders and sexualities All religions and beliefs

10 British Values – Mutual Respect and Tolerance- BAES
We celebrate and value our diversity We take part in all faith and cultural celebrations We recognise that people have different opinions and we accept and respect them even if we do not always agree with them

We have freedom of speech We have freedom of choice

We express our views freely and can agree or disagree We are encouraged to make choices about our progression and career in a supportive and safe environment We can campaign for causes we care about and choose to participate in enrichment activities
