Weekly Executive Summary
Street Resurfacing and Natural Gas Improvements Section 2: Talking Points C It seems that for the third week in a row the primary challenges faced by the construction crews are weather-related. Wed., June 28: Garden Street to West Jackson Street (complete) So, the contractor is sticking with the plan to mill and resurface the remaining downtown streets at night? Yes, regrettably, continued rain last week prevented the construction crews from making much progress in the city’s $30-million street resurfacing and natural gas distribution system improvements program. Yes, that presents the fewest traffic and business impacts. What about work in West Pensacola (Group 9)? The schedule called for nighttime work on Palafox Street. But with the rain, that work has shifted to this week. It is more than 90 percent complete. The contractor has requested putting the work “on hold” until construction (by others) around the Government Street retention pond is completed. What exactly is planned this week? And, in Central Pensacola (Group 8)? The plan is for nighttime work to mill and resurface Palafox Street. Here’s the schedule: The contractor started working on A Street over the weekend. It’s weather dependent, but they should be working south of Garden Street through Monday, then north of Garden Street beginning Tuesday. The contractor’s goal is to mill and re-pave four to five blocks per day. Sun., June 25: Garden Street to Main Street Mon., June 26: Palafox Place to Main Street (begin) Tues., June 27: Garden Street to West Jackson Street (begin) Palafox Place to Main Street (complete). Street Resurfacing and Natural Gas Improvements Section 2: Talking Points C What about the work on the natural gas system? If citizens have questions, who can they call? Like the road crews, they were unable to work last week. But, given good weather, the crews will resume a normal schedule this week in the following Pensacola Energy sectors (refer to the map in Section 5): For questions about roadway resurfacing, contact the city’s engineering consultant, Atkins, Inc. They’ve established a dedicated information hotline, (850) Sector 1A: Downtown West (80% complete). For questions about the natural gas work, call Pensacola Energy, (850) Sector 3A: Devillers Area (10% complete). Sector 4A: North Highlands Phase IV (50% complete). Sector 5A: North Highlands Phase II (5% complete). Sector 2B: Lakeview Phase III (Underway). Sector 3B: Bayview Park (10% complete). Work in the South Palafox sector was completed several weeks ago. The current phase of the natural gas infrastructure improvements program is slated for completion in 2018. Date: 06/26/2017

Weekly Executive Summary
Street Resurfacing and Natural Gas Improvements Section 6: Public Information Narrative C June 26, 2017 In the central part of the city (Paving Group 8), the contractor started on A Street over the weekend. It’s weather dependent, but they plan to work south of Garden Street up until Monday, June 26, then north of Garden Street beginning Tuesday, June 27. The contractor’s goal is to mill and re-pave four to five blocks each day. Tropical Storm Cindy brought more rain to Pensacola last week, along with schedule disruptions for the city’s $30 million street resurfacing and natural gas infrastructure improvements program. Street resurfacing and natural gas teams have adjusted their schedules in hopes of better weather the week of June 25. If the weather permits, resurfacing crews plan to work on the following segments of Palafox Street: Work in the western portion of the city (Paving Group 9) is more than 90 percent complete. The work is “on hold” until construction (by others) around the Government Street retention pond is completed. That will allow the contractor to finish the remaining 10 percent of the work in Group 9. Sun., June 25: Garden Street to Main Street Mon., June 26: Palafox Place to Main Street (begin) Cars parked on the street must be removed before work can begin in either the street resurfacing or natural gas improvements program. Vehicles left on the street are subject to relocation. Construction personnel are going door-to-door hours in advance of work to notify property owners of the parking restrictions. Tues., June 27: Garden Street to West Jackson Street (begin) Palafox Place to Main Street (complete). Wed., June 28: Garden Street to West Jackson Street (complete) The work on Palafox Street is slated for overnight hours to minimize impacts for drivers, businesses, and adjacent property owners. Once Palafox Street is complete, work downtown will transition to Main and Tarragona Streets. More information on the street resurfacing program is available by contacting the city’s engineering consultant, Atkins, Inc., (850) Questions about the natural gas distribution system work may be referred to Pensacola Energy, (850) Date: 06/26/2017
