3 Early Agriculture About 10,000 yrs ago, after the Paleolithic Era, came the Neolithic Era. This era introduced Agriculture which made it easier for humans to settle in one place.

4 Early Agriculture Agriculture involved the modifying of the environment by domesticating plants and animals For example: Dogs, sheep, wheat, horses, corn Agriculture also introduced new tools such as iron and bronze tools

5 Early Agriculture Agriculture is said to have began in Southwest Asia about 10,000yrs ago. Certain crops grow better in different places

6 Problems with Agriculture
Agriculture brought a few problems: Farming took a lot of time and energy All crops didn’t always grow Other groups of people would steal crops Deforestation would cause erosion

7 Civilizations After the arrival of agriculture food became consistent which lead to the development of communities A key part of these communities was the development of social organization. This gave jobs to each person to specialize in a certain task.

8 Civilizations As time past communities eventually grew into villages and those villages would grow into cities. The first known city was created in the Middle East called (Uruk). This city contained houses, farms, and buildings to support citizens.

9 Civilizations A huge element of the city of Uruk was the economy which answered 3 questions: What goods to produce? How to produce those goods? Who will get the goods?

10 Civilization After the creation of cities the citizen eventually turned those cities into civilizations. All civilizations contain cities, government, religion, social class, art/architecture, and writing

11 Civilizations Cities serve as the place where the other features of a civilization takes place Government is used to manage and protect the many people and resources in the civilization by using laws and policies

12 Civilizations Religion is a shared belief of a group of people and is used as a guideline to live life on earth.

13 Civilizations Social Classes were set like a pyramid system. The highest part of the social class consisted of rulers and priest, the middle class consisted of farmers and skilled workers and the bottom consisted of slaves or serfs.

14 Civilizations Art/Architecture consist of creation of buildings and many forms of art such as music, literature and other forms of entertainment Writing is simply symbols that represent sounds
