Training and Summit goal for the year: Inspire and empower Arts Liaisons to increase their leadership impact on their school community and in the district. KNOW: The role of an Arts Liaison and the steps of Action Planning UNDERSTAND: What’s within your realm of influence and control as an Arts Liaison DO: Create a SMART goal for the year that reflects a priority issue for you and your school community

Arts Liaison BINGO! Get BINGO by finding other Liaisons who have met expectations on the card. Talk briefly with them about what they did and how it went. Write their names in the accompanying squares.

What is the role of an Arts Liaison?
Be the public face and point person for the arts at your school and for the broader community Communicate and coordinate the wealth of arts opportunities and resources available to students, educators, and administrators, including: Arts initiatives within and beyond your school Arts education resources for teachers, administrators, and students Professional learning opportunities in the arts Grants and other funding opportunities in the arts Arts partnerships in and after school Current research, trends, and hot topics in arts education advocacy (local, state, national)

What is the role of an Arts Liaison?
Collaborate with leadership on charting the direction and funding of arts programs and art integration at your school Find opportunities to advocate for arts programming and arts integration at your school Make the value of arts education visible and undeniable through data-informed evidence Create sustained commitment to arts programs and initiatives Assist administrators and colleagues with Arts Essential spending Gather and verify data for Creative School Certification

The Steps of Action Planning
What When Set Goal Create a SMART goal around increasing active engagement of CPS arts liaisons. Arts Liaison Training #1 Act Create an Action Plan outlining steps that need to be taken to meet the goal. Arts Liaison Training #2 Reflect Reflect on the quality of implementation of the Action Plan. Arts Liaison Training #6 (check-ins #3–5)

Setting a SMART Goal What exactly do you want to achieve? (Who, what, where, when, how?) Can you track progress and measure the outcome? Is it something you can realistically accomplish? Why is this goal worthwhile? How does it align with other goals? Can you set a date by which this goal will be achieved?
