Objectives: - To know the main actions of the Fenians in the period To be able to evaluate how far they influenced the relationship between Britain and Ireland. Outcomes: - D grade – will be able to describe the actions of the Fenians. C grade – will be able to explain the impact of individual actions. B grade – will be able to analyse the importance of the Fenians based on a range of evidence. A grade – will be able to reach a substantiated conclusion about the impact of the Fenians on the relationship between Britain and Ireland. Differentiated learning : - Reading is differentiated. Parnell vs Gladstone It is now time to start doing some independent research to begin to develop the skills you need for the coursework. As such, you will be given 2 lessons plus homework to complete this activity. Half of you will focus on Parnell and argue that he was the most significant; the other half will focus on Gladstone. You must produce a collective 2 sides of A4 bullet pointing your arguments for your individual.

Individual Essay You must use everything you have research to write a short essay. The essay should address the question: Was Gladstone more important than Parnell in the development of the relationship between Britain and Ireland? Remember that you must use the historians to build up the argument and then assess how far the evidence supports what they are arguing. Remember to read the general advice given about your famine essay.
