Thank you for coming this evening to hear about the math resources available on Think Central. My name is Susan Schlueck, and I teach math support in the district. Before I begin, I would like to remind you that you can use the Hillside Public Library computers if you do not own one or your computer is broken.

How to Log In and Sign On
Choose Mathematics then choose HSP Math
To access the site, you should type into your web browser, choose mathematics, and then choose HSP Math.

To Log In to the site, you must select the correct drop-down information:
New York, New Hyde Park-Garden City Park Ufsd, and your school name
To access your child’s account, you must type in the user name provided by the district. Your child should know his/her user name because he/she uses it to sign into the computer lab. The user name and password were sent home prior to the vacation. You should contact your child’s teacher if you do not know this information. 6
Your child’s teacher has given your child a user name and password.

4. Student Desktop
The available products and resources can be accessed using the Library icon.
All the products and resources that are available will display on the Library page.

5. Available Resources
Your child’s practice book and text (eBook) are available online. These can be used if your child forgets them in school and has assignment due the next day.
The practice book and text (eBook) can easily be viewed online.

6. HSP MATH PRACTICE BOOK
This is a sample of a student practice book page that can be viewed online. You can use these to help your child study for a class assessment.

7. HSP Math Student eBook
When you click on the student eBook, this screen will appear. You must wait until the lowercase “h” bounces across the page to enter a page number or access the table of contents.
Type in the page number or use the table of contents to access the online interactive features.

8. Table of Contents
If you choose to use the Table of Contents, you must double click on the unit, chapter and finally the lesson you would like to view.
Click on the UNIT, CHAPTER, and LESSON to view the available resources for each specific math concept.

9. HSP Math Student eBook Vocabulary Interventions Activities iTools
You will view the same text as what is in your child’s book. If you click on the word play, the text will be read aloud to your child if your computer has speakers and the volume is adjusted properly. The eBook offers several additional resources to help your child understand the concepts and skills of the lesson. They can be accessed using the icons on the sides of the online text when they are brightly highlighted. I will review each one of them.

If you click on the lifesaver ring, a list of interventions with each lesson will be displayed. Click on the lesson to view the available leveled skill interventions. Your child can click on the tabs at the bottom of the screen to go directly to the intervention needed: learn the math, do the math, independent practice, or quiz.

Clicking on the Mega Math icon brings you to an animated interactive-lesson activity that will enable your child to practice his/her skills while applying the concepts taught in the lesson.

12. iTools Digital manipulatives Mathematical tools
Model and apply key math skills and concepts

On the left-hand side of the screen, you will see an icon with mathematical tools. This resource, iTools, contains digital manipulatives that your child can use to apply the skills and concepts of the lesson.

If your child needs additional practice, there are a variety of interactive activities for your child to explore. Click on the game pieces icon to access the lesson specific activity.

14. Vocabulary Listen to Read Definitions Web link
Yellow highlighted words are defined in the vocabulary resource. Click on the icon for a list of vocabulary words within the chapter. Click on the word to read the definition of the word; click on the speaker icon to hear the definition.
