SATS Monday 14th May – Thursday 17th May Year 6 English SATs
English grammar, punctuation and spelling – Paper 1 comprises 40 to 50 short-answer questions covering grammar, punctuation and vocabulary; Paper 2 is a spelling test with 20 questions. English reading – one paper based on reading comprehension of three to four texts, with a total of 35 to 40 questions. Year 6 Maths SATs Mathematics - paper 1 – Arithmetic test – 40 marks in 35 minutes Mathematics - papers 2 and 3 – Reasoning tests each lasting 40 minutes

BY THE END… National aspirations are for all non SEN children to ACHIEVE NATIONAL STANDARD Scale scores will show you how well your child has done in their tests. We shall discuss this closer to SATs

Homework Reading Independent daily reading at home – record the amount read in home diaries (when possible) (please check and encourage)

Homework Spellings All statutory words are in spelling books. Children will be tested on some randomly selected words from this list plus 10 subject specific words or common mistakes which shall be refreshed. Children will be tested every Monday and then informed of which section of the statutory list to practise for the following Monday.

Home Diaries Diaries are mainly a source of communication between home and school (vice versa) Children will record messages, homework and their home reading Feel free to write messages to me regarding PE kit, illness, appointments etc
