3 Contribution of Agriculture to the economy
Most of People living in the rural areas (70%) depend in Agriculture That constitute 54% women

4 They feed the communities
-They sell in community markets which are accessed by majority

5 Oxfam’s project – Food Security for Tanzania farmers
The project is designed to contribute towards poverty alleviation of small holder producers involved in vegetable value chain. The program integrates gender issues throughout its implementation by insuring that 60% of the beneficiaries are women.

6 - Women, who forms majority of small holder farmers have unclear tenure rights. - Despite the fact that Laws state that women should equally own land as men but, 1. Lack of purchasing power 2. Willingness to inherit land to women 3. Women not claiming their rights

7 WOMEN COLLECTIVE ACTION APPROACH
It is the approach used to support women economic empowerment. Actors supports women in WCA, build their capacities in Production, in marketing, in Gender and hence:- Increased earning ability Receiving land from families and village council (they are respected) Sharing farms and work as a group

8 They attract buyers/ private sector

9 WCA – AS AN APPROACH TO SOLVE LAND ISSUES

10 Recommendation Acknowledge the presence of women initiatives to solve their land problems and build on them in our different intervation Support/train Ensure women participate fully, no male dominance in collective actions Local government should simplify procedures for formalizing groups
