7 Community Wellness Fair a Success!
UPDATE Community Wellness Fair a Success! Although skies were cloudy and a rainy mist filled the air on and off throughout the day, the recent Community Wellness Fair was a success. The family event, held at Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mount Horeb on May 14th, helped to raise money and awareness for the 2011 Habitat for Humanity of Dane County building project taking place in Mount Horeb. Fairgoers were treated to several health, wellness, and holistic-care booths and seminars throughout the day. Music, provided by a variety of local musicians, added a special ambience to the day; and kids enjoyed games, crafts, and emergency vehicle tours. A special highlight was the K-9 demonstration provided by Officer Blaine Hall and K-9 Bak. Proceeds from the fair, including funds raised through booth registrations, sponsorships, concession sales, and free-will offerings, will benefit the Mount Horeb Habitat for Humanity building project. A total of $2,400 was raised. The support of area businesses and residents that helped to make the wellness fair a success is greatly appreciated! What a wonderful way to welcome our neighbors to their new homes! It’s not too late to get involved with the Habitat for Humanity of Dane County building project in Mount Horeb. Construction is now underway for the duplex which will benefit Jean Bower and her three children of Mount Horeb, as well as Karen Buchanan and her son who currently reside in Madison. Visit for more information on affordable housing. If you, your family, and/or your business would like to volunteer to help with the project, please contact Sherri Hefty at Additional information about other fundraisers and volunteer opportunities related to this local build can be obtained by contacting Dale Johnson at
