Workforce Solutions Grants
GOAL: Improve the experience of care for older adults in rural Minnesota by funding emerging and proven workforce strategies that increase the quality, quantity and capacity of our caregiving workforce.

Grant Size: Up to $25,000 Grant Term: Two years Grant Rounds: 1) Jan, 2017-Dec, ) July, June, 2019 Matching Funds: Not required

WHO is Eligible? Provider members of LeadingAge Minnesota
501(c)(3) Organizations: Governmentally owned For-profit w/ tax exempt fiscal sponsor Located in rural Minnesota: Outside 7-county metro area Within 7-county metro w/ population 7,500 or less

WHAT is Not Funded? General Operations Bricks and Mortar Projects
Capital Campaigns NOTE: Capital expenditures that enhance the work environment or support a proposed workforce solution would be eligible e.g. training room, computers, day care, etc.

WHAT is the Process? 2-Step Application Process:
Request For Letters of Intent (RFLOI) Request for Proposals (RFP) Selection Process: Independent Review Panel Recommendation LAMF Board Ratification

WHAT is the Timeline? Oct. 3: RFLOI disseminated to members Oct. 21: Deadline for LOI submissions Nov. 1: RFP sent to selected applicants Dec/Jan: IRP meets to select grant award recipients Jan. 2017: LAMF Board ratifies IRP recommendations; GALs/checks sent

WHAT are the Selection Criteria?
Use of Funds: Extent to which applicant demonstrates how grant funds will be used to advance grant program goals Innovation: Extent to which proposal has a unique purpose or innovative solution based on a promising new practice, use of technology, etc. for the field or for their organization

WHAT are the Selection Criteria?
Goals: The clarity and measurability of the project goals and outcomes Applicant Capacity: The ability of the applicant to achieve measurable results within the timeframe and budget indicated Sustainability: The ability of the project to become self-supporting after the grant term

WHAT are the Selection Criteria?
Replicability: The extent to which project strategies can be implemented in other organizations or regions

WHAT are the Selection Criteria?
Preference is given to: Home- and community-based settings; Acute caregiver shortage areas; Collaborations; Projects that support specific regional, ethnic and cultural approaches to the aging experience.

WHY should you Apply? Access seed money/financial resources for new or expanded initiatives Learn strategies from other grantees in cohort Collect and learn from results data Address a critical challenge in our field Why not?

HOW to Apply? Step 1: Identify a project that meets a workforce need in your setting/organization Step 2: Complete the Letter of Intent Cover Sheet Step 3: In no more than two pages, provide requested information Step 4: Submit cover sheet and requested information per instructions

HOW to Apply? LOI Requested Information:
Organization Background: Provide a brief overview of your organization—mission, history, service area and services provided. Community: Tell us about the community and individuals you serve. Problem: What are the specific workforce challenges that your project addresses? Project Information: Tell us about the project and your goals for this initiative.
