If you scroll down the search page, you will find many helpful options. For instance: If you want the search to: Find all search terms or Any terms If you want: Full-text articles or PDF articles If you are looking for credible sources, you would check the Peer Reviewed box.
10
First, I type in civil war and choose the subject option.
I want to search for information on the book The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara which is about the American Civil War. First, I type in civil war and choose the subject option. Then, I add the book title to the search and choose the title option in the drop down. I have chosen AND as my boolean operator, because I want both search terms to be included in my results.
11
My search yields two hits:
-Social and political aspects of the civil war -Civil War landmark sites
12
*Remember, if you do not find the search results you are looking for, you can always go back and refine your search terms by using related terms: ie. Instead of using: Business Try: -Job occupation -Line of work -Career or -Employment Sometimes less is more. If you add too many terms to your search, you will end up with 0 results. It’s always best to start simple, then tighten your search. Refining your Search

If you want to cite your source and prefer MLA to APA (for example) there’s an easy way to do it. At the top of the search page is a preferences tab. Click on it and at the bottom of that page is a citation format dropdown. Here you can choose whatever format you want your reference to be cited in and save it. Creating a Citation

Creating a Citation Another way to retrieve a citation is to click on the detailed record link at the top left of your screen. This will give you a citation as well as other options under tools.
