Buffalo were the main resource of survival. They used buffalo meat for food and the hide for clothing.

Teepees could easily be taken down to support their nomadic lifestyle.

Adaptations to Environment
The Great Plains lives centered around the buffalo. They were nomadic and traveled from place to place to follow where the buffalo went. nomadic: to move and travel around a lot

Culture Buffalo was the center of their lives. They worshiped the buffalo and believed it was sacred. Buffalo hunts were held twice a year. Many tribes would get together to go on a big hunt. Men did the hunting and women would prepare.

Social Structure Many small tribes lived and traveled together.
Each tribe had a chief that was in charge of the group.
