AP Pilot Basic Info Klein ISD is one of 14 districts across 4 states selected for the College Board pilot program Study of how to prepare and motivate students to take and better perform on AP exams

Benefits for all AP Students
Schools have access to free, online AP question banks and released AP exams Calculus and World History classes will have more student and classroom resources More access to actual AP questions prior to the test => greater success on the AP exam

What do ALL AP students need to do?
Log into their College Board account Join an online “class” for each AP course they’re enrolled in at KCHS (teachers provide codes) Access the materials Respond to feedback surveys* Select which exam(s) they will/will not take by October 15*

College Board Feedback Surveys
Parent permission form required 1st survey in November 2nd survey after exams in May Student’s reasons for not taking AP exam, how prepared they feel, etc. Not shared directly with AP teachers

AP Test Decision in October
Students must indicate for each AP exam whether/not they intend to take the exam by October 15 A $52 deposit/exam is required by October 15 Why? Encourage a commitment to test if student is enrolled in course.

Non-refundable Deposit Due at Registration
Exam Fee Changes Total Fee Non-refundable Deposit Due at Registration Remainder Due by March 1 Exams Ordered by October 15 $94 $52 $42 Exams Ordered November 1 to March 1 $188 $0 Only exception: $52 is refunded if move out of KISD Fee is only $94 for stand-alone 2nd semester classes (psych, govt, econ, etc.) – full amount due at registration

AP Pilot Summary EVERY student in any AP course…
Receives online tools to help them be better prepared for their AP Exams Must join the College Board support platform using access code from AP teacher Must declare their AP exam intentions by Oct 15 and pay deposit AP Exam decision changes have associated fees
