6 What’s Your Excuse? How much do you do?

7 What it Measures. As professionals, we may know that physical activity is good for us. If some of us are not doing enough… How can we convince and motivate others to do the same? Over-eating on Christmas day? Don’t just sit down on Boxing day! Staying still, eating poorly regularly, smoking and drinking to excess are behaviours that will lead to ill health. The Cure for ill, is not to sit still.

8 Current Work. Activity Referral
Programmes operating in all 6 districts. Established in late 2008/early 2009. Coordinated by SPHW, NHS Worcestershire and Local Authority partners. So far 1005 participants have been through the programme. Participants have seen a general reduction in weight, blood pressure and BMI. Significant increase has been seen in capability to partake in physical activity. Walking for Health Currently, 26 weekly walking for health groups are operating 171 different walks. 1066 people take part in health walks each week. 158 volunteer walk leaders are currently active.
