2 A. History Vietnam has had a long history of war and being ruled by other countries China ruled Vietnam for over 1000 years Introduced many modern technologies to Vietnam

4 B. French Rule Napoleon III – Ruler of France who invaded Vietnam in 1858 Wanted to increase the size of the French Empire and benefit from Southeast Asian trade Ruled Vietnam for almost the next 100 years
