2 Shire of Nillumbik -2011 ABS Census 62,000 residents
-432km2 of both urban and rural settings -located 25km north-east of Melbourne -predominantly Caucasian, English-speaking (89%) and either Christian (58%) or have no stated religion (31%) -54% hold educational qualifications (degree, diploma, vocational) -nearly 69% of households have income in the medium to highest brackets, almost 15% higher than the Melbourne Statistical Division -2011 ABS Census 13,958 aged 55+ or 23.2% of population, by 2021 will be 28.2%, and by 2031 will be 28.9%

5 Arts & Culture: Artist in Residence Program
Lorraine Heller-Nicholas and Katherine Soutar Artist in Residence Program Each year Arts and Culture offers artist residencies of between two to four months to contemporary artists of any discipline in Eltham which are owned by the State and managed by Parks Victoria. The program aims to: Provide opportunities for artists to develop their practice in an inspiring natural and cultural environment Contribute to our cultural development by providing access to high quality arts activities and giving local artists professional development opportunities Raise awareness and help conserve the environmental and cultural values of the properties where the artists’ reside Profile the Shire of Nillumbik as a leading arts location in Victoria 2012: Susan Wirth local artist with post graduate studies in Art therapy works across mediums to produce sculpture and installations  facilitated a two-session contour drawing workshop program at Wattle Glen Aged Care Facility, which was highly rewarding for all 2013: Melanie Scaife painter who used her four month residency to create new works based on experiences of the local landscape facilitated a drawing workshops at Wattle Glen Aged Care Facility based on the notion of souvenirs 2013: Lorraine Heller-Nicholas and Katherine Soutar jointly explored the idea of dancing with oneself and considered the way in which music affects our mood and outlook on life Dancing with myself is a dance portrait project Susan Wirth Melanie Scaife

6 Arts & Culture: Opera Australia Performances
2013 -HACC Team were present at the morning tea to talk to audience members in an informal setting about HACC services 2014 -Positive Ageing Officer will be present at the morning tea to talk to audience members in an informal setting about Council services, particularly Positive Ageing and HACC

7 Arts & Culture: Nillumbik Tales: Voices of our Elders
join initiative where we put out a call for Nillumbik seniors to submit their stories of life in Nillumbik received over 45 wonderful pieces of writing stories were compiled into a book called Nillumbik Tales, Voices of our Elders book is a diverse collection of writing compiled from people’s experiences and memories of family and characters they knew from a bygone era in Nillumbik inaugural launch was held in October 2014 with over 100 people attending, including Councillors writers received a copy of the book and shared in discussions with their families and friends who had come along to share the day

Grandparents Play group Things to do with the grandkids… Promote intergenerational opportunities and programs For grandparents who care for grandchildren during the week. Meet other grandparents who care for grandchildren while the children enjoy a playgroup experience. $35 annual Playgroup Victoria membership -does not meet during school holidays

9 Youth Services 2012 Glee -sang to local nursing home during Seniors Festival 2013 Nillumbik Youth Theatre: The Lost Boys -free dress rehearsal performance for nursing homes/retirement villages/older adults 2014 Nillumbik Youth Theatre: The Magical Land of Oz 2015 Nillumbik Youth Theatre: Hair Spray -free tickets to opening night via Positive Ageing mailing list -Street Art program -developing a short film(s) with local primary school
