Out in Oxford, a trail through Oxford museums celebrating LGBTQ+ histories Using the work and ideas of professional historians Drawing on Steve Gunn’ s input at last year’s conferences (Tudor accidents!) Robin Conway (John Mason) describes how he used the scholarship to enliven his curriculum. Handling complexity and widening horizons – without losing sight of the students An approach to planning (exemplified in teaching the First World War) Free Lunch and chance to network Race, History and New World Slavery Abdul Mohamud & Dr Robin Whitburn (University College London – Institute of Education) This includes a practical workshop developing an enquiry for the classroom and following up on morning scholarship. Effective professional development for teachers is a core part of securing effective teaching, and effective schools. It cannot exist in isolation, rather it requires a pervasive culture of scholarship with a shared commitment for teachers to support one another to develop so that pupils benefit from the highest quality teaching. New CPD standards, DfE, July 2016 Subject knowledge not only inspires pupils and helps them to achieve, it improves the quality of teaching as Ofsted’s evidence shows. Walking from the City Centre to St Catherine's will take between 15 and 20 minutes or from the train station around minutes. Bike is best!
