2. Schedule Changes
Next year we will be on a 7 period schedule where classes last all year.
Please see red form for class requirements/choices for 9th grade.

3. Credit Requirements
After the class of 2013, 25 credits will be required to graduate.
Please see the Alabama High School Diploma handout for the breakdown of required credits.
Each semester class will earn 0.5 credits each for a total of 7 credits per year.
If students go to trade school or co-op they lose 0.5 credits per semester.

7. Other Differences
Only Academic Diploma students are eligible for Valedictorian/Salutation.
2 years of a Foreign Language is required for Academic Diploma.
Academic Diploma students usually do not attend trade school.

8. Which choice is best for me?
Consider the following:
Are you strong in math?
Do you plan to attend a 4 year college?
Do you have good study habits?
Are you willing to work hard?
Do you have attendance issues? (you can easily fall behind in math based classes)
Do you want to attend trade school?

9. Can I swap from Standard to Academic if I change my mind?
NO! When you begin on the math track of your choice you are bound by those classes and requirements.

10. One last requirement
AHSGE: this year’s 8th graders are now still required to pass all 5 parts of the AHSGE in order to receive a diploma.
