A bursary place includes: all presentations
Bursaries A bursary place includes: all presentations accommodation for one night the awards dinner including all complimentary food and drink The bursary places are funded by various sponsors. A bursary place at APTUK Annual Professional Conference and Exhibition will allow the delegate to attend: • all presentations • accommodation for one night • the awards dinner including all complimentary food and drink. The bursary does not include travel expenses or additional night’s stay prior the start or after the APTUK Annual Professional Conference and Exhibition. The Pharmacy Technician or Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician must be a current member of APTUK to be eligible for a bursary. Non-members will not be eligible for a bursary. There are two ways in which members can apply for a bursary place: Application by submitting a 200 word statement 2. Nomination by their local APTUK Branch

Bursaries – member applications
200 word statement judged by 3 National Officers Demonstration of passion for their career (5 marks) Explains how the APTUK Annual Professional Conference and Exhibition would be of benefit to them and their team or branch (5 marks) Have they entered/planning to enter one of the awards for this years’ conference (Katherine Miles poster awards/AAH or Branch of the year award) (5 marks) How will they plan to share their experiences from attending APTUK Annual Professional Conference and Exhibition (5 marks) Applications ed to by 24 April 2017 The applicant will need to submit a 200 word statement on why they would like to attend APTUK Annual Professional Conference and Exhibition. This can be hand written or typed. The statement will be marked • Demonstration of passion for their career (5 marks) • Explains how the APTUK Annual Professional Conference and Exhibition would be of benefit to them and their team or branch (5 marks) • Have they entered/planning to enter one of the awards for this years’ conference (Katherine Miles poster awards/AAH or Branch of the year award) (5 marks) • How will they plan to share their experiences from attending APTUK Annual Professional Conference and Exhibition (5 marks) All applications must be sent via to by 24 April 2017. The applications will be judged by a panel of three National Officers. Each National Officer will score the entries against the criteria above independently. They will then meet (face to face or virtual) to review the scoring and agree to whom bursary/bursaries will be allocated to. The panel’s decision is final. If there are several successful applicants with the same scores, and this exceeds the number of bursary places, priority will be given to applicants that have not been allocated a bursary before and then entered into a closed ballot if necessary. Applicants for bursaries will then be informed the outcome via in May/June, by the Branch Liaison Officer.

Presentation at branch meeting judged by members Demonstration of passion for their career (5 marks) Explains how the APTUK Annual Professional Conference and Exhibition would be of benefit to them and their team or branch (5 marks) Have they entered/planning to enter one of the awards for this years’ conference (Katherine Miles poster awards/AAH or Branch of the year award) (5 marks) How will they plan to share their experiences from attending APTUK Annual Professional Conference and Exhibition (5 marks) Nominations ed to by 24 April 2017 The Chair for Branch will ask all members to attend a branch meeting before the 24 April 2017. Branch members will then be given an opportunity to give a 5 minute presentation as to why they would like to be given a bursary. The presentations will be judged by branch members. Their presentation will be scored against the following criteria: • Demonstration of passion for their career (5 marks) • Explains how the APTUK Annual Professional Conference and Exhibition would be of benefit to them and their team or branch (5 marks) • Have they entered/planning to enter one of the awards for this years’ conference (Katherine Miles poster awards/AAH or Branch of the year award) (5 marks) • How will they plan to share their experiences from attending APTUK Annual Professional Conference and Exhibition (5 marks) They will then give their scores to the branch chair who will check the scores, the branch member with the highest score will be informed by the branch chair. If there are several members with the same scores, these members will be entered in a closed ballot, or priority given to those who have not previously attended. The chair for the branch will complete the APTUK Annual Professional Conference and Exhibition Bursary, Branch Nomination Form and send it via to by 24 April 2017. The submissions will be entered into a draw. The Branch Liaison Officer will conduct the draw. Applicants for bursaries will then be confirmed the outcome via in May/June by the Branch Liaison Officer.

The APTUK/AAH Pharmacy Technician of the Year Awards are made to one Pharmacy Technician in each of the following categories: • Outstanding Contribution • Leadership • Innovation • Patient Safety

Nominations via to by 24 April 2017 Each Award includes Title ‘APTUK/AAH Pharmacy Technician of the Year’ within their category An engraved glass trophy An education bursary to the value of £300 (Specific terms and conditions will apply to the education bursary) A place at the next APTUK Annual Professional Conference and Exhibition (travel expenses are not included) Nominations will be through the submission of: • A supporting statement from the individual making the nomination • A supporting statement from the nominee’s manager/supervisor • A declaration from the nominee stating that the work is their own APTUK/AAH Pharmacy Technician of the Year applications will be submitted electronically via to by 24 April 2017. The adjudication process will be conducted by a selected panel. The panel will consist of: • Vice President, APTUK – who will co-ordinate the adjudication process • 1 AAH Employee (procurement specialist to be nominated by AAH) • 1 external judge (who has no connections with those who have been nominated) The panel will meet (face to face or virtual) in early May to judge the nominations for all categories. Assessment and judgement will take place by review of the nomination for each category including the: • supporting statement • manager’s/supervisor’s supporting statement • nominee’s declaration of authenticity Nominations that demonstrate benefits to patient care (directly or indirectly) or pharmacy services will be considered most favourably by the adjudication panel. The winners will be selected by agreement of the panel and the adjudication decision will be final. The nominations who are shortlisted will be informed by of the adjudication decision by APTUK/AAH joint statement in May/June. The final decision will be kept confidential until the Awards Dinner, where the awards will be presented. Pre-registration trainee Pharmacy Technician
of the Year Award Sponsored by AAH Nominations via to by 24 April 2017 Each Award includes Title ‘APTUK/AAH Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician of the Year’ An engraved glass trophy A place at the next APTUK Annual Professional Conference and Exhibition (travel expenses are not included) This is the first time we will have an award for The Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician of the Year Award. This will be funded by AAH. The APTUK/AAH Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician of the Year Award will be made to the trainees who, in the opinion of the judges, demonstrate outstanding effort and commitment, which will be evident in the nomination. The adjudication process will be conducted by a selected panel. The panel will consist of: • 2 APTUK National Officers • 1 external judge (who has no connections with those who have been nominated) The panel will meet (face to face or virtual) in early May to judge the nominations for all categories. Assessment and judgement will take place by review of the nomination for each category including the: • A supporting statement from the individual making the nomination • A supporting statement from the nominee’s manager/supervisor • A declaration from the nominee stating that the work is their own Nominations that demonstrate benefits to patient care (directly or indirectly) or pharmacy services will be considered most favourably by the adjudication panel. Katherine miles poster awards
Sponsored by Helapet Abstracts via to by 24 April 2017 Each Award includes A Framed certificate An Education Bursary to the value of £250 (Specific terms and conditions will apply to the Education Bursary) Katherine Miles poster awards Members can apply to submit a poster by submitting an abstract via to by 24 April 2017. The abstract should be a complete but concise description of your work. It should showcase what is contained within the poster. The adjudication process will be conducted by a selected panel. The panel will consist of two National Officers. The panel will meet (face to face or virtual) annually in early May to judge the abstracts. Those that have submitted abstracts that have been selected will be informed by of the adjudication decision in May. Abstracts will be printed in the APTUK Annual Professional Conference & Exhibition handbook. Applicants must submit a PDF copy of their poster via to by 09 June 2017. The adjudication process will be co-ordinated by Education (Pre-registration) Officer, APTUK. The adjudication process will be conducted by a selected panel. The panel will consist of: • 2 APTUK National Officers • 1 external judge (who has no connections with those who have been nominated) The panel will meet (face to face or virtual) in early May to judge the posters. The winners will be selected by agreement of the panel and the adjudication decision will be final. The final decision will be kept confidential until the APTUK Annual Professional Conference & Exhibition, where it will be announced. The Katherine Miles poster awards includes: • A Framed certificate • An Education Bursary (Specific terms and conditions will apply to the Education Bursary) Poster Award judge by members As well as the above awards attendees at the APTUK Annual Professional Conference & Exhibition will be asked to vote for their best poster. The award will be • A Framed certificate • An amazon voucher to the value of £20 Attendees will be given a voting slip in their participants pack with instructions. Completed voting slips will be given to Profile Productions.

Branch of the Year Award
Sponsored by AAH Submission of branch report via to by 24 April 2017 Each Award includes Title ‘APTUK/AAH Branch of the Year’ An engraved glass trophy £200 winnings The APTUK/AAH Branch of the Year Award is funded by AAH. The APTUK/AAH Branch of the Year Award acknowledges the ongoing dedication, enthusiasm and commitment of Pharmacy Technicians members running local branches voluntarily in their community. Submission will be via to by 24 April in the format of the branch annual report. The adjudication process will be conducted by a selected panel. The panel will consist of: • President, APTUK • Treasurer, APTUK • 1 invited (selected) external judge (who has no connections with those who have made a submissions) The panel will meet (face to face or virtual) in early May to judge the submissions. Assessment and judgement will take place by review of the submission including the: • number of meetings • number of attendees • meeting topics • financial statement(s) • submission to consultations • other initiatives that support APTUK Branch annual reports that demonstrate benefits to APTUK members will be considered most favourably by the adjudication panel. The winners will be selected by agreement of the panel and the judgement decision will be final. The submissions who are shortlisted will be informed by of the adjudication decision by APTUK/AAH joint statement in May/June. The final decision will be kept confidential until the Awards Dinner. The APTUK/AAH Branch of the Year Award will consist of: • Title of ‘APTUK Branch of the Year’ • An engraved glass trophy • Winnings of £200 to use for their branch
