What Does This Mean for Technology Opportunities within OCPS?
As the District increases their technology usage, there will be a need for increased goods and services related to technology. Eventually all school sites will support the one-to-one initiative. Approximately 10 to 13 new and renovated school sites are scheduled to be under construction each year for the next few years. The District is working toward total wireless technology in all of its school sites. Specialized hardware such as SMART Boards, Tap-It Tables, audio and visual equipment and digital devices are on the rise. Specialized software including application software and educational software are in demand including STEM and STEAM. The District will soon be moving to the Cloud. WHAT IS UDT DOING TO ADDRESS STEAM?
MAKER MOVEMENT As humans, there are two things that make us truly unique: the ability to use tools and the ability to tell stories – Making things is both! this is the maker movement page LEARNING IN THE MAKING Making Learning Better In our rapidly, advancing world, schools must prepare students to solve problems their teachers never anticipated and to build skills for jobs not yet created. Makerspaces offer the most powerful educational context to meet these challenges: collaborative, project-based learning, new technologies, and repurposed spaces converged to put learning in the making. Maker not only builds and supports 2020 workforce skills, it develops lifelong learners. A dedicated partner with proven experience can help schools embrace and navigate the Maker Movement and help students innovate their future.
