3. Implement New Assessment Systems in School.
Action/Impact
New Baseline Assessment in Reception Class (no longer statutory!)
Whole school migration to new National Curriculum standards ‘Emerging’, ‘Expected’, ‘Exceeding’.
New standardised tests ‘PIRA’ and ‘PUMA’ in Maths and English 3 x per year – standardised score and ability to track progress.
New on-line assessment system called Pupil Asset to track pupils’ attainment and progress.
1st new National Curriculum End of Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 SATs assessments administered – (KS2 test results TBC).
New style CATs tests in Year 5.
Partnership with other Sevenoaks Schools to ensure assessments are comparative.

Collaborative approach to ensuring the consistency and quality of teaching across the school.
Replaces ‘formal observations’ of teachers – professional discussion rather than judgement.
Focus is on the children’s learning and progress in a lesson and how the children perceive the lesson.
Joint planning, resourcing , observing and feedback.
Extends to working collaboratively with other schools – share good practice.

8. Improve the Quality, Frequency and Assessment of Science Teaching and Learning Across the School.

Implementation of the new Science national curriculum across the whole school.
Continuation with the Cornerstones Creative Curriculum to teach Science – 2 Science based topics per year.
Introduction of ‘Love to Investigate’ modules - Science investigations and scientific skills e.g. conducting a fair test.
