Implement New Assessment Systems in School.
Action/Impact New Baseline Assessment in Reception Class (no longer statutory!) Whole school migration to new National Curriculum standards ‘Emerging’, ‘Expected’, ‘Exceeding’. New standardised tests ‘PIRA’ and ‘PUMA’ in Maths and English 3 x per year – standardised score and ability to track progress. New on-line assessment system called Pupil Asset to track pupils’ attainment and progress. 1st new National Curriculum End of Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 SATs assessments administered – (KS2 test results TBC). New style CATs tests in Year 5. Partnership with other Sevenoaks Schools to ensure assessments are comparative.

Promote the Teaching of Mastery in Mathematics
Action/Impact Y2 and Y6 new curriculum taught for the first year. Continuation with use of manipulatives/visuals to facilitate deeper conceptual understanding . Staff Training (internal and external) Mrs Lloyd Davies – Senior Leader in Education (maths) Decision to adopt and invest in ‘Maths No Problem’ (Singapore Maths) Working with LA to pilot the introduction of Singapore Maths model and allow other schools to see us in action. Part of Y2 national research project in teaching ‘mathematical reasoning’.

Continued Focus on Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar to Raise Attainment and Progress in Writing Across the School. Action/Impact Significant impact on SPAG KS1: 87% working at the ‘expected level’. (Teacher Assessed) KS2: 87% working at the ‘expected level’. Improve the Presentation of Pupil Work Across the School.
Action/impact Ofsted area for improvement (March 2015) Presentation audit across school. Agreement on consistent presentation in pupil books. Agreement on consistent teacher marking in books. Agreement on handwriting cursive style – direct teaching. Presentation and Handwriting Policy

Implement a Lesson Study Model to Ensure the Effectiveness and Quality of Teaching and Learning.
Action/Impact: Collaborative approach to ensuring the consistency and quality of teaching across the school. Replaces ‘formal observations’ of teachers – professional discussion rather than judgement. Focus is on the children’s learning and progress in a lesson and how the children perceive the lesson. Joint planning, resourcing , observing and feedback. Extends to working collaboratively with other schools – share good practice.

Improve the Quality, Frequency and Assessment of Science Teaching and Learning Across the School.
Action/Impact Implementation of the new Science national curriculum across the whole school. Continuation with the Cornerstones Creative Curriculum to teach Science – 2 Science based topics per year. Introduction of ‘Love to Investigate’ modules - Science investigations and scientific skills e.g. conducting a fair test.

Improve the Delivery and Quality of PHSE in KS2.
Action/Impact PHSE session replaces 1 x AOW per work – regular 30 minute slot. Audit of all PHSE provision in KS2. Ratification of SRE Policy. E-safety training for staff and E-safety day.

Promote the Library as a Learning Resource, Improving Systems and Use to Support Reading and Spelling. Action/Impact New Junior Librarian system – on line system accessible from home. Training for staff and pupils on using the library system. Re-stock of books in Library. Improvements to the fabric of the area: a roof that does not leak!

Renewed focus on outdoor learning – Eco Garden, Church Yard, Forest School? Celebrating Art Across the School Development of Playground Area – Quiet area, Year R/1 Decking Area, Main Playground.
