2 PEACEBUILDER CLUBS Promote the Rotary Peace Fellowship Apply peace principles to service projects Connect with the Community Support Economic Opportunity Ensure Sustainability Engage in peace education

3 ROTARY PEACE FELLOWS Each year, Rotary selects up to 100 individuals from around the world to receive fully funded academic fellowships at one of our peace centers.

4 ROTARY PEACE FELLOWS Applications are completed online via the site to be received by the RI Peace Center by July 1 each preceding year. (The 2018 Rotary Peace Fellowship online application form is now available from the Rotary International website)

5 Districts endorse candidates
WHERE DO THEY COME FROM? Clubs recruit candidates From their districts or any other district/country and forward those names to the District Rotary Peace Fellow Chair Districts endorse candidates The District Rotary Peace Fellow Chair and subcommittee interview candidates Recommended candidates are forwarded to the Rotary Peace Center committee

There are graduates of Rotary’s prestigious education program They are engaged in peace education programs and development projects many of which are located in high-risk environments

Rotary Peace Fellow, Wendy Coulson “Peace and Development Education Consulting” “We create education programs for Rotary Clubs and NGOs working in areas of development such as Rotary International’s Six Areas of Focus”: Water & Sanitation, Disease Prevention & Treatment, Basic Education & Literacy (including English as a Second Language and Bilingual Education), Peace & Conflict Prevention/Resolution (including Environmental Education), Maternal & Child Health, and Economic & Community Development

The Peace Project The Peace Project is a skill based program written by Rotarian Jean Best (D1020) working with Rotary Peace Fellows, young people and other Rotarians.  The Peace Project was developed to empower young people to feel confident to become leaders in their homes, schools and communities. Rotary Peace Fellow, Bianca Neff – founder of PETRA “RESILIANCE” programs Petra Peacebuilders empowers people building peace to transcend with breakthrough resilience in their global peacebuilding endeavours Rotary Peace Fellow, Patricia Shafer – Co-Founder New Gen Peacebuilders NewGen PeacebuildersSM is a global youth peace education program that emphasizes the role, value and impact of young people (ages 14-24) in achieving a peaceful world.

Paul K. Chappell is the Peace Leadership Director for the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation, lecturing across the country and internationally on Peace Leadership and Peace Literacy. “Paul Chappell’s material encourages students to think critically about metaphors on persistence, leadership and world peace, thus allowing them to apply what they have learned to their own lives. His material is helping the students of today become the leaders of tomorrow.” Susan Radford teaches Science and the AVID Elective at North Middle School in the Everett Public Schools District in Everett, Washington.

14 HOW TO BECOME A PEACE BUILDER CLUB
Review the information on Peacebuilder Clubs on the District 5240 Peace Page Select a Club Peace Chair Notify the District Peacebuilder Club Coordinator of the name of the Club Peace Chair.

15 HOW TO BECOME A PEACEBUILDER CLUB
Update your club information on the District 5240 website with the name of your Club Peace Chair Complete the Peacebuilder Club Activities including those from Category A and Category B

16 HOW TO BECOME A PEACEBUILDER CLUB
Inform the District Peacebuilder Club Coordinator that your club has completed the required activities You will receive a Peacebuilder Club banner for your club Continue to support Peacebuilding Activities throughout the Rotary Year
