1 Mr. Sieckowski’s Rules and Regulations
Science is cool, but you gotta be safe!

2 Here’s the Key to Success in Science Lab:
Follow the Lab Rules Follow the Lab Scoring Plan

3 Lab Rules These rules are to be taken seriously. They could make a difference in you being safe and the safety of others !

4 Be Responsible

5 Look at me. Listen for instructions.
Follow all written and verbal instructions carefully. When you hear my voice – STOP ! Look at me. Listen for instructions.

6 When you come in the lab . . . DON’T TOUCH ANYTHING OTHER THAN YOUR BOOKS, UNLESS YOU HAVE PERMISSION !

7 Remember- No food in the lab area !!

8 No Horseplay.

9 Keep it clean !!

10 Watch those safety hazards !!
STOP !

11 Notify Mr. Sieckowski of any unsafe conditions or problems.
Mrs. Dellutri, we have a problem.

12 Trash ? Dispose of Chemicals and items from the lab experiments as instructed by Mr. Sieckowski

Stay in your lab station and prepare the area for the next class.

19 DO NOT ENTER PREP AREA! Prep Area: Authorized personnel only!

20 In case of a fire drill: Close containers Turn gas valves off
Turn off electrical equipment Last person out of the room turns the light off and closes the door.

27 When to wear aprons? Aprons are NOT just for cooking !
Make sure you wear them correctly and tie the ends.

A C C I D E N T S ! ! ! Report ANY Accident – spill, break, etc. Report ANY Injury - cut, burn, scrape, etc Mr. Sieckowski we have a problem.

34 Pouring Chemicals Give yourself plenty of room between you and the stuff you’re pouring !

Swirl or gently stir the solution. Watch for heat produced when working with acids.

36 Flammable Liquids ! This Would Be Bad ! BAD ! BAD !

37 Lab Chemicals and Equipment Stay Put !
All supplies must be ready for the next class before you leave!

38 Use the pans/pails as provided.
Be careful when moving chemicals, supplies or equipment around the lab. Use the pans/pails as provided.

43 Report Damaged Electrical Equipment –
Watch for: Frayed Chords Exposed Wires Loose Connections
