Every day around 11 children in the UK are diagnosed with cancer.
However if you filled a football stadium with children, probably only one child in the whole stadium would have cancer

Children’s cancer is very different from adult cancer
So it is important to find treatments and medicines that work specifically for children

What is Cancer? The organs and tissues of the body are made up of tiny building blocks called cells. Cancer is a disease of these cells. Cancer happens when cells that are not normal grow and spread very fast

Doctors aren't sure why some people get cancer and others don’t
Cancer isn't caused by germs you can’t catch it like a cough or cold You can talk to, play and hug someone with cancer

You don’t have to do anything wrong to get cancer
You can’t get cancer from anything you do, like bumping your head

The good news is lots of children are cured of cancer
On average 8 in 10 children can now be completely cured.
