Warm Up What is globalization? How new is globalization?
What is an example of globalization from the video? What countries were involved? How did trade between the countries benefit each other? Do you think globalization is a good or bad thing? Explain why. Brain Pop Video – globalization usually refers to the increased flow of trade, people, investment, technology, culture, and ideas among countries. This includes goods, services, labor, and capital.

What has led to increase in globalization?
In the recent decades there has been an increase in globalization. Some reasons for this include: trade barriers have gradually been reduced around the world growth and sharing of technology Improved methods of transportation and communication The fall of communism

Positive effects of globalization
Globalization has many benefits. When countries open their borders. People are free to travel, immigrate to other countries, trade and outsource. They also have better access to medicine, information, education and technology.

When people trade how do both sides benefit?
Some benefits of trade include: Countries are able to produce more specialized products Countries are able to buy more and a variety of products Lower prices US- Cars China- Toys

What are some negative affects of globalization?
The increase of globalization not only has positive affects but it has negative ones as well. These negatives include: Loss of jobs due to outsourcing Environmental damage Increase in terrorism Increase of drugs Spread of diseases

Lower costs which can led to lower prices Higher profits Increase in product demand More jobs for foreigners Cons Workers are at risk to losing their jobs to outsourcing Workers end up making lower wages
