1 Moving towards a point of conviction
29 April 2015 Ditupa Fothane

2 Definition of terms Conviction: A strong belief or opinion
The feeling of being sure that what you believe or is true The state of being convinced Examples: Boko Haram Grass eating and petrol drinking saints TC situation

3 Theoretical Framework
Conviction precedes behaviour People act when they are convicted People act on their conviction People can be act radically when they are convicted (paraffin, grass scenario, TC brother) We cannot progress or make progress if there is no conviction There are stages to conviction

4 Scriptures Nehemiah 1: 4 “and it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven” Nehemiah had reached a point of conviction How do we know?

5 How do we know? He enquired about the state of affairs of Jerusalem
He wept Fasted and prayed Chapter 2: He acted He was affected emotionally, spiritually, and psychologically He invested his time and effort, he consulted, he initiated

6 A point of conviction They enquire (how much do we have? How much do we need to finish? How long will it take? How does the building look like?) Spiritually engaged (they pray for the success of the building, pray against opposition) Psychologically-emotionally engaged (Nehemiah wept) Forceful/violent/radical (Shadrack, Meshack, Abednigo and Daniel) Daniel 3:17 “our God whom we serve is able to deliver us….18 but if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods” Ruth says “for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God” Ruth 1:16 It is hardwork to arrive at the point of conviction

7 The road to conviction Jesus lived with men who were not convinced that he is the Messiah (it is possible that some of our brethren are not convinced that we are building) Conviction is a process to some people (proposing love) Some people need divine intervention to arrive at a point of conviction

8 Facilitating conviction
Habakkuk 2: 2 “and the Lord answered me, and said, write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that He may run that readeth it” Revival (preach about it, talk about it at home, motivate, ) building the biggest and beautiful church in Pretoria Write the vision (my car, Vision 2030, Vision 2016, the vision must be made available to the saints, print T-shirts, Make it plain (billboards COMING SOON)
