4. Total War
In total war, everyone plays a role for the war effort, civilians and soldiers alike.
Civilians: people who are not officially part of the army
Everyone is affected—men, women, and children.

In total war, every available weapon and all of the country’s resources are used for war
Different from a limited war, where only a certain amount of resources and people are mobilized.

6. Limited War
If a war doesn’t really affect civilians in a major way and it feels like everything is going like it used to, it’s most likely a limited war.
World War I was different. It was hard to find a person whose life was not somehow changed by the war.
