You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; ~ 2 Peter 3:17

Sin Without Godly Sorrow
2 Corinthians 7:9-10 ~ Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. 10 For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.

Sin Without Godly Sorrow
Godly sorrow is remorse that grieves for sinning against God and for what our sins have cost God. Luke 15:18,21; Acts 8:22-24 John 3:16 Godly sorrow is knowing that there is nowhere else you can go because no one else can take care of what you have done, but HIM!

Sin Without Godly Sorrow
Worldly sorrow is a grief that comes from self-pity and from the loss, or disappointment, or shame, or ruin, or sickness caused by sin. It works death! It can lead to sin without any type of sorrow and no regret! Eph. 4:19; 1 Tim. 4:2; Heb. 6:4-6

Sin Without Godly Sorrow
“It is one thing to mourn for sin because it exposes us to hell, another to mourn for it because it is an infinite evil; one thing to mourn for it because it is injurious to ourselves, and another thing to mourn for it because it is wrong and offensive to God. It is one thing to be terrified; another, to be humbled.” (Gardiner Spring)

Response to Sin Romans 6:1-2 ~ What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?

Shall we continue in sin…
When we know its ORIGIN? 1 John 3:4 ~ Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness. 1 John 3:8 ~ He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

Shall we continue in sin…
When we know its ORIGIN? John 8:44 ~ You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.
10
Shall we continue in sin…
When we know its HISTORY? Gen 3:6 ~ So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.

Shall we continue in sin…
When we know its HISTORY? Rom 5:12 ~ Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned —

Shall we continue in sin…
When we know its HISTORY? Gen 6:5-6 ~ Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 And the Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart.
13
Shall we continue in sin…
When we know its HISTORY? Sin’s history in our own lives! Rom 6:21 ~ What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.
14
Shall we continue in sin…
When we know its RESULTS? A path of destruction! Matt 13:42 ~ … will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Matt 25:41 ~ Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: Matt 25:46 ~ And these will go away into everlasting punishment,…

Shall we continue in sin…
When we know its REMEDY? Rom 6:23 ~ For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Titus 3:3-4 ~ For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. 4 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, …

Shall we continue in sin…
When we know its REMEDY? “We expose evil, not to gasp and marvel at the brazen insolence of it or to look down upon those steeped in it, but rather to strip it of its deceitful facade, mark it for avoidance, and learn to appreciate the grace God offers. We do this not out of a sense of self-righteous piety, but out of a full recognition that we are all guilty and must do all we can to pull others from the fire that destroys souls.” (Doy Moyer)

Shall we continue in sin…
When we continue in sin we go against everything that God has created. 1 John 2:15-17 To live in sin in a world that belongs to God is an endless and hopeless struggle against reality. God has designed life to bring us to HIM! BEWARE WHEN YOU SIN WITHOUT GODLY SORROW!
