3 Claim or not a claim? If the following is a claim, write YES on your paper. If it is not a claim, write NO. 1. In the story "The Stolen Party" Liliana Heker uses third person limited point of view well. 2. In the short story "The Stolen Party" the author, Liliana Heker uses foreshadowing effectively by hinting to the reader what the conclusion of the story will be. 3. Liliana Heker uses third person limited point of view to limit the reader knowing what other characters think in comparison to Rosaura.

4 3. In the short story "The Stolen Party," Liliana Heker used Rosaura as a third person limited narrator so that the reader feels the same hurt and surprise that Rosaura does in the conclusion. 4. "Stolen Party" by Liliana Heker, effectively uses foreshadowing to help the reader anticipate that Rosaura will always be restricted by her mother's social status.

5 Providing a definition and listing examples is not an analysis paper
Throughout “The Stolen Party” Liliana Keker uses foreshadowing so we are given hints about the conclusion. There are many examples of foreshadowing. When Rosaura’s mother tells her “That one’s not your friend. You know what you are to them? The maid’s daughter, that’s what” (page107). Another example we see is when the girl with the bow in her hair says, “you are not a friend of Luciana . . .” (page 108). The foreshadowing leads to the end of the story when you know the how the conclusion will turn out.

6 Stop using first and second person
in your paragraph It’s not we, you, I. Write: the reader or the readers. NO: I think the author used foreshadowing to inform us the ending would be sad. YES: The author used foreshadowing to inform readers that Rosaura will be disappointed with her station in life.

7 Think about your word choices
The reader gets a glimpse inside the main character’s head. Rosaura was the only one who got to see the monkey and she thought she would get two gifts.

8 What does a good paragraph look like?
Liliana Heker effectively uses foreshadowing to help the reader anticpate that Rosaura will always be restricted by her mother’s social status. This happens when Rosaura’s mother expresses her suspicions toward Luicina’s birthday party and said, “ ‘That one’s not your friend. You know what you are to them? The maid’s daughter, that’s what’ ” (page 1). This foreshadows the ending of the story, in which it is revealed that Rosaura was working the party the entire time and not an invited guest. This is important because it transfers Rosaura’s mother’s suspicions to the reader through foreshadowing and the reader can clearly see that Rosaura is held back by her mother’s social standing.
