4 LCPS Music programs continue to be recognized across Virginia for high quality instruction and student performances. This past year LCPS had a record 10 Virginia Honor Bands and 14 VMEA Blue Ribbon Schools. Music programs bring school communities together through cluster concerts and school performances. Students had countless opportunities for authentic real world performance experiences such as performances in China and Hawaii, at professional sporting events and at the Kennedy Center.

8 Accomplishments LCPS has been selected as a “Best Community for Music Education” by the NAMM foundation for the past 9 years in a row

9 Accomplishments NPR’s “From the Top” program performed at River Bend MS and featured several RBMS students The Navy Band performed the first concert in the new RRHS Auditorium Air Force Strolling Strings performed at BRHS Jessica Morgan featured in the Winchester Star newspaper article “Star Leader as Maestro” PFHS Guitar and Freedom choral students performed for awards luncheon at the US Dept. of Education Dr. Kevin Vigil and Dr. Matt Dunlap presented at Yale University's "Guitar Extravaganza"

10 Accomplishments Dr. Miroslav Loncar was the conductor for the All-Virginia Guitar Ensemble in Norfolk, VA The Briar Woods Falcon Regiment performed at the Russel Athletic Bowl game Briar Woods Percussion Ensemble won the Atlantic Indoor Percussion Association Concert Percussion Category Broad Run HS Band performed in the London New Year’s Day Parade Tuscarora HS students had a master class with legendary Tonight Show band trumpeter, Doc Severinson THS was invited to perform n the Pearl Harbor Memorial Day Parade in Honolulu Elaine Stanford, LCPS Music Specialist, has been selected as the guest conductor for the 2016 All-Virginia Elementary Chorus

11 Accomplishments 84% of All VA Guitar students were from LCPS
More than a third (63 students) of the Regional Orchestra were from LCPS 24% of All Virginia Jazz Ensemble came from our students 18 LCPS students qualified for VA Honors Choir (open only to seniors across the state) LCPS MS Choral students captured 1/3 of the choral seats in the state and 18 students made the national ACDA choir LCPS groups (Loudoun Youth Guitars, The Nova Guitar Trio, Stone Bridge High School 745 Vocal Ensemble, and Park View High School Artist Guitar Ensemble) performed at the Kennedy Center's Millenium Stage

12 Bright Spots Partnered with Loudoun Symphonic Winds to bring the Canadian Brass to JCHS for a master class and concert

13 Bright Spots Ryan Sill’s appearances on The Voice
Ryan sang in the choral programs at Seneca Ridge MS and Dominion HS

Kennedy In closing, I want to thank the parents and Loudoun community for their support of the arts. I wish to thank and congratulate our students for their hard work and outstanding accomplshments.
