Example: In 150, the place value of the digit 1 is hundreds. 3. standard form- A number written in a way that shows only its digits. 4. expanded form- A number written as the sum of the values of its digits. Example: 2,476 = 2, 5. word form- A number written in words. Example: 125 = one hundred twenty-five 6. period- A group of 3 digits in a number, separated by commas, starting from the right. 7. compare- To find out which number is greater and which number is less. Example: 7 is greater than 5 and 5 is less than 7 7 > < 7 8. order- To write numbers from greatest to least or from least to greatest. Example: Order 9, 2, and 3 from least to greatest: 2, 3, 9. 9. addends- Numbers added together to give a sum. Example: 7 + 5 = 12 addend + addend = sum 10. sum-The answer when adding two or more addends. 11. fact family- A group of related facts using the same numbers.
