Vocabulary Rate – The ratio of two measurements having different units of measure. Unit Rate – amount for 1 unit. Examples: $12 per shirt 35 miles per hour $8.50 per hour 3 pieces of pizza per person

Vocabulary Ratio – the relationship of two quantities that are measured in the same unit. Proportion – an equation that sets two ratios equal to each other.

Vocabulary Solve – find the value of the variable that makes the proportion true. Cross-Multiplication – multiplying the diagonals together to solve a proportion.
