2. Examples of Errors Error Example
Dates Student DOB (e.g., 9/12/2012 vs. 9/12/2000
Student program start date before student entered school (e.g., student entered school /6/2012 but program start date is 8/15/2011)
Field Length Phone number is longer than xxx-xxx-xxxx
Inconsistent Data EL Status is “EO” but CELDT data exists
Data Not Updated Exit code indicates “not graduated”, but a follow-up with school sites reveals student in fact graduated

3. Recommendations
Identify school administrators / personnel who enter or change data in PowerSchool
Work one-on-one with each school to:
Understand their processes
Identify potential sources for errors
Provide additional PowerSchool training where needed
Identify a process for continuous audit of the PowerSchool data and provide schools frequent / daily feedback on errors
The closer to original data entry an error is identified, the easier it is to fix
Also makes it easier to identify errors Home Office can fix versus data that only School personnel can access

6. Data Certification Scorecard
Certify Data Certification Scorecard shows a daily digest of all the rules which have been violated; and provides a Data Certification Score – a dynamic metric summarizing the overall quality of the data being validated.
Each rule is weighted and prioritized with a Severity Level.
