Organic solute transporter (OSTα-OSTβ) expression in human control livers and patients with stage III and IV primary biliary cirrhosis. Note that both the α- and β-subunits are significantly increased both at the mRNA (A) and protein levels (B), although much larger increases in expression are observed for the β-subunit. All data represent fold changes in mRNA expression after normalizing control values to 1 (n = 4–6). Control vs. primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC): *P < 0.001, #P < 0.01, +P < 0.05.
