By wisdom a house is built,  and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

The people who know their God shall stand firm and take action.
Principle 1: Who we ask in prayer informs what we ask in prayer

6. Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. .

7. The Only way that you can trouble God is by not coming to Him at all.
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” 
-Jesus / Matthew 6:9-10

1 To you, O Lord, I call; my rock, be not deaf to me,
lest, if you be silent to me, I become like those who go down to the pit.
2 Hear the voice of my pleas for mercy,    when I cry to you for help, when I lift up my hands toward your most holy sanctuary.

9. Blaise Pascal Philosopher Theologian observed,
“There once was in man a true happiness of which now remain to him only the mark and empty trace, which he in vain tries to fill from all his surroundings, seeking from things absent the help he does not obtain in things present.  But these are all inadequate, because the infinite abyss can only be filled by an infinite  and immutable object, that is to say, only by God Himself.”

10. Principle 2: Why we ask in prayer says a lot about us.
James 4:3
You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.
We are to bring EVERYTHING to God in prayer but in all those things we are to pursue God’s glory *which is always for our good
John 16:24
Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full
Principle 2: Why we ask in prayer says a lot about us.

11. Psalm 28:6-7
6 Blessed be the Lord  For He has heard the voice of my pleas for mercy.  7 The Lord is my strength and my shield; in Him my heart trusts and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to the Lord.

12. Principle 3: How we ask (in faith) redefines much of our lives.
Hebrews 5:7
in the days of his flesh jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence.
CS Lewis noted two types of people those that pray “thy will be done,” and those to whom God says, “All right then, have it your way.”

Do you want to have more effectual prayer?  What can we glean from these principles of petitioning we looked at today?
