2 How He Is Related To Me He is my Great Grandfather (my father’s grandfather)

3 Facts He was born at home in 1901.
He was the youngest in his family (nine children). He lived in Kilmacrane near Lyre. He was a farmer.

4 Facts He was a messenger boy in the Civil War.
The Civil War was on in 1922. He was 20 Years old. He sent messages around Banteer Parish. He delivered the messages on a pony.

5 When he died He died in 2003 at home in his own bed.
He was given a gun salute at his funeral because he was part of the old IRA. He is buried in Lyre cemetery with his wife, brother and parents.

6 Facts He lived for 102 years and was married for 72 years. (they had seven children) He and his wife were the sixth longest married couple at the time when he died in Ireland and Great Britain. He also had relatives who lived to be 98 years (father - buried in Lyre cemetery),107 years and 115 years, (buried in old Kilcorney cemetery).

7 I am proud of my Great Grandfather. He was brave in the Civil War.
