2. Judaism A song for Shabbat (KS1)
Children will have watched videos and know what Shabbat is and why it is celebrated by Jewish families.
Read ‘Sammy Spider’s First Shabbat’, and using a bag of Shabbat artefacts, set up a Shabbat table
Teach Shalom Shabbat using a ‘my turn, your turn technique’.
What do you think the word “Shalom” means?
Explain that it is a greeting which means “Peace.”
Children sing the song again and move around the room, shaking hands with each other on the word “Shalom”

3. Hinduism A song for Diwali (KS1)
Children will have seen the story of Diwali acted out using puppets, and will have recreated the story using their own paper puppets.
Teach the children Di-Di-Diwali by playing it for them a few times and asking them to join in
What does the music sound like to you?
Does the tune make you think of lights?
After the children have sung the song, pause to recap why the Festival of Light is celebrated, and sing the song again.
Then do an activity making diyas using clay, plasticine and paper mache.
