Falcon Music Newsletter
Hello families, Welcome to the 2014 – 2015 school year! We will teach afterschool choir to 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades. There will be 2 choirs; 2nd and 3rd Monday and Thursday ~ 2:40 to 3:40 4th and 5th Tuesday and Thursday ~ 2:40 to 3:40 I’m working on various performances throughout the year. I’m privileged to be working with such great families. We will be learning many elements of performing. Students are learning confidence to sing in front of the world. They’re sharing many compliments with each other and supporting each other in their music education. They’re also learning how to practice anything. MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY My goal is to share my enthusiasm for learning music and use it as a practice medium. People learn how to do something by repeating the activity. We use mentors & teachers to guide the correct techniques for what we’re learning. But, ultimately, we choose that which we want to excel. We practice those activities over and over. Student can use music to practice other activities. Many athletes you see will prepare to music. A good chunk of the day in preschool, kindergarten, and first grade around the world is spent using music. Why stop using such an effective learning mechanism? We listen to music when we’re at our moodiest (good and bad). Simply, music. In our music class we will use singing, playing, acting, movement, reading, improvising, teamwork, individual work, responsibility, caring, sharing, microphones, mallets, autoharp, recorders, keyboards, projectors, cameras, books, whiteboards, songs, boomwhackers, rhythm sticks, guitars, various percussion, and more to enjoy elements of music. The curriculum I follow and strategies I use will prepare our students for further music studies in their future should they choose (I strongly urge). Our student will also be prepared to use music knowledge as an aid in many other endeavors. Please feel free to contact me regarding ANY of your musical questions. I’m looking forward to a great year at Milenio.
