HV-Cables Current standard product is RG-220/U like cables from Draka. Limited to max. 40kV Not compatible for CPS SF6 gas filled PFL cable replacement (80kV, 0.3 Several investigation threads: “Improved” RG220/U for up to 65kV (sample at CERN) standard attenuation Tests planned: partial discharge measurement TMWS vs. Draka 80kV SF6 gas filled cable replica 80kV low attenuation SF6 gas free cable for 80kV PFL cable replacement New low attenuation SF6 gas free cable for Tx applications ~40kV OTS Air insulated RF cables with liquid dielectric Connectors Alternative pulse generator concepts (IA, Marx, fast PFN) not covered here.

HV – Cables: SF6 gas filled replica.
Goal Cable availability / PFL replacement / relax current design limitations. Timescale to possible deployment Short/Medium term (~6 mons to 1 year, window of opportunity) Gains w.r.t. present technology None – pure reengineering and production development. Possible deployment scope All CPS systems running on SF6 gas filled PFL, new systems. Ongoing activity domains - projects and present resource levels CONS (ACP-PS) Gas filled cable replacement. [0.1 Staff], 395kCHF, EDMS Present status and outlook MS and PE without quotation, one potential supplier, new PE to be issued. Special machines needed for production currently available.
