Apps for your modern business
Visual Studio 6/16/2018 Apps for your modern business Time: 1 minute Flow A modern business applications spans across on-premises and the cloud in one hybrid environment. A modern business application is accessed through multiple devices and form factors. Visual Studio and .NET provide a common experience across this heterogeneous world. It gives you a consistent application development environment for both Windows Server and Microsoft Azure. It allows you to target Windows devices with differentiated experiences or create web applications and services that can be consumed from any device. Enabling continuous delivery
Visual Studio 6/16/2018 Enabling continuous delivery Agile Development Agile Delivery Flow We have spent some time showing how Visual Studio 2015 and .NET enable you to target the Cloud OS, from your backend services running on-premises and in the cloud, to the client experiences across devices. But as we introduced at the beginning, Cloud OS provides more than a platform for our applications. It also provides a platform for Visual Studio to start a new era. By bringing the two things together we can dramatically improve your ability to continuously deliver. The combination of Visual Studio 2015, Microsoft Azure and MSDN provides the best platform and tools for cloud development. We have also introduced the new era for the Microsoft developer platform. In this new era Visual Studio 2015 and Visual Studio Online extend the development experience to the cloud, taking it to new levels of productivity and agility that we are just starting to unleash. We have shown some of these services and we have introduced some new services available today, such as Monaco or Application Insights. All of this is targeting just one goal: to help you create amazing applications. As I always say, Visual Studio is only as good as the applications developed with it and wow… you can create amazing apps. I would like to show you one of the many examples that apps like these… Quotes to look for “Microsoft ushers in a new era of cloud development” Transition to next slide Let’s see it on a video… © 2013 Microsoft Corporation. Extending existing apps
Visual Studio 6/16/2018 Better together Develop and test Web apps Extending existing apps Mobile apps Time: 1 minute Flow We are working to simplify cloud development through capabilities we are introducing to help you use Microsoft Azure from within Visual Studio with unique MSDN benefits. When we go to the demo in 2 minutes, we’ll see some of these capabilities that make cloud development easier in action. If you’re asking yourself where can I use Microsoft Azure as a Visual Studio developer, we see 4 developer scenarios: The first scenario is dev & test in the cloud. Ask the audience “How much time it takes developers to get a server from the moment they ask for it and by the time it is procured and provisioned?”. After getting a few answers, you can confirm that we hear about a range of weeks to months, and that the beauty with Microsoft Azure is that it lets you provision these preconfigured servers when you need them in a matter of minutes. We’ll see more about the dev & test scenario later on in the demo. Additional developer scenarios for production as well are: Scenario #2: Web apps – For temporary marketing campaign web sites or spiky reservation-based websites Scenario #3: Mobile apps – For B2C mobile apps running on either iOS, Android, or Windows Phone with the cloud as a backend. Scenario #4: Extending existing apps – Taking existing LOB systems and adding modern capabilities using Microsoft Azure. Transition to next slide So now I want to show you a demo of the dev & test scenario. © 2013 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
