COM Salary Support for PIs Developing Training & Major Institutional Grants
Availability of salary support for principal investigators developing and submitting training grants or other major institutional grant opportunities. This program will provide 20-40% effort of principal investigator salary at the NIH cap for a maximum of 3 months to support development and submission of training or other major institutional grant opportunities. Training grants will be given priority, but other major institutional grants will be considered. Renewal and resubmission applications will also be considered. Proposals that are collaborative efforts involving more than one department and/or center will be given priority. In order for salary support to be received, a copy of the submitted grant as well as documentation that the grant has been received for review by the funding agency must be provided to the Senior Associate Dean for Research. A total of $100K annually has been allocated to support salary and fringe for approximately 3-9 faculty members each year depending upon the award amounts. The standard award amount will be at 20% effort but in cases where very substantial effort will be required, the principal investigator may request up to 40% effort at the NIH cap for a maximum of 3 months.
