The labour market in the UE
The term ‘European labour market’ is used to describe the demographic profile of the labour force. At EU level, it is concerned mostly with the free movement of workers.
The project and aims of the European labour market are different from the objectives associated with national labour market regulation, where employment protection and industrial relations are the major concerns.
Since the foundation of the European Economic Community in 1957, the purpose of establishing a free movement of workers provided the major context of regulations regarding this issue.
The demographic profile of the European labour market has changed in recent years. The proportion of the labour force that is female has increased positively over the last decade.
Migration now shapes the European labour market, and the new Member States have utilised the right to free movement of workers to encourage changes in the national and ethnic profile of the European labour market.

The European CV helps you present your skills and qualifications effectively and clearly. You can create your CV online using tutorials or download the template, examples and instructions.
The Language Passport is a self-assessment tool for language skills and qualifications. You can create your Language Passport online using tutorials or download the template, examples and instructions.
Documents issued by education and training authorities:
The Europass Mobility, records the knowledge and skills acquired in another European country;
The Certificate Supplement, describes the knowledge and skills acquired by holders of vocational education and training certificates;
The Diploma Supplement, describes the knowledge and skills acquired by holders of higher education degrees.

9. Session 7 EURES, European Job Mobility Portal www.ec.europa.eu/eures/
EURES is a cooperation network coordinated by the European Commission and designed to facilitate the free movement of workers within the European Economic Area.
Partners in the network include public employment services, trade union and employers' organisations.
The main objectives of EURES are:
To inform, guide and provide advice to potentially mobile workers on job opportunities as well as living and working conditions in the European Economic Area.
To assist employers wishing to recruit workers from other countries
To provide advice and guidance to workers and employers in cross-border regions.

Language Passport
The Europass Language Passport is a document in which you can record your skills and competence in languages.
It was developed by the Council of Europe and complements the Europass CV to which it can be attached.
It provides a review of all the languages you can use.
This may include partial competences in some languages.
It can include competences gained both inside or outside formal education.
Using the Common European Framework of Reference, you can present your language proficiency in a comprehensible way, which is also internationally comparable.
